Sharing the experience of working in the arts in Athens this presentation attempts to problematize the image of the city as a southern experiment of creative energy and sustainability in times of crisis. 

Despina Zefkili is an art critic and member of the Temporary Academy of Arts (Soft Power Lectures, An agreement without principles–Towards a history of contemporary Greek art, SEP). She was a member of the team of the 4th Athens Biennale AGORA (The Non Serious Lectures). She has written for On One Side of the Same Water, The Way between Belgrade and Prishtina, Art Papers, Third Text, Ocula, Frieze et al. With Vangelis Vlahos she co-curated Archaeology of Today? and co-edited Local Folk.
